My Newly Revised Website & the Winona Art Walk!

November brings the unveiling of my newly revised website:

A HUGE thank you to Hedi Bryant for creating my website which includes a shopping cart for purchasing prints and note cards!  Thanks to Riaz Missaghi too as always for his help & support.

November also includes the "Winona Art Walk", a chance to get a start on Holiday shopping while supporting local artists-how much better can it get?
I'll have new paintings and pastels as well as new note cards (with a few packaged into gift giving form) at the Friendship Center, Saturday November 22nd from 10AM until 4PM along with lots of fabulous artists, music by "My Grandma's Cardigan" and refreshments!

Another very large thank you to Vivian Fusillo, Winona's own fabulous Queen of Theater for sitting for me!

April...New & Repeat Exhibits

April 2014 includes a new venue for me, the Friendship Center in Winona where I have portrait paintings along with a few landscapes hanging up for the month.  I'll also be doing a portrait in oils at the center "live" June 4th along with pastel artist Toni Ambrosen.

Spring is at last arriving, for a few days anyway...  below a few pastels of fresh flowers I kept in vases around the house throughout March!  Flowers have always been food for my soul:)

April also brings the 40th Anniversary of the Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts in Winona along with an Anniversary Dance Performance at the Page Theater.  A number of my paintings and drawings from the exhibit Dance: A Painters Perspective will be hanging in the performance center lobby along with a new painting (below) from a modern dance rehearsal for the celebration.

Jillian the Dachshund

Just finished another pet portrait of a sweet miniature dachshund, Jillian.  She is a rescued dog. It has taken a year and two new kittens for companions for her to learn to play.

Before the Storm......

Wednesday (before Thursday afternoons BIG storm) I got to paint outside on an almost 50 degree day in MN!  Used water based oils-limited palette of colors and arches oil paper.
Lovely day, especially using my new rechargeable battery operated coat:)  Thank you Riaz-you are wonderful!  I can be outside painting just that much earlier....and hopefully later in the fall....

A Tuesday evening 45 min portrait with water based oils on paper.

Winter...enough already!!

Winter or not it's usually beautiful at the Trempealeau Wildlife Refuge.  Too cold for me to paint but not to sketch from the car and come back to the studio to paint trying out some new brushes and paints.  Perhaps this week will be warmer?!
Adding a portrait from a 2 1/2 hour session with a wonderful model....

Precious Coconut...

My dear friends lost their best buddy and loving companion Coconut a few weeks ago.  When we lose someone so close to us they are held forever in our happy memories and hearts.   Coconut's sweet personality and her precious quizzical look are unforgettable.  She made everyone happy just to see and be greeted by her.  I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to paint her portrait.
Miss you sweet Coconut.
