Immie Lou & Winona Sunset

I've been wanting to paint my kitty for a long time.  Her beautiful pale blue eyes and chocolate face, velvet nose and ochre fur.  So Immie Lou was my model for today.....

A Beautiful Summer Evening at the Red Horse...

It was a beautiful summer evening at the Red Horse Gallery for our Artist Reception Friday evening.

We had a record turn out with wonderful food, drink and good company to share our art with.  Thank you John Sagan for such a lovely space to do it in!

Gary & I are grateful for all of the help and all of the people who came to Fountain City to be with us to celebrate our show!

It will be up through July 28th so come back for another look around!  Who knows?-perhaps a new carving or painting will make an appearance...

A day on the River....

It feels as though I have been spending more time framing and getting ready for my show with woodcarver Gary Flynn at the Red Horse Gallery than painting so it was especially wonderful to get in a boat with a friend for a good part of the day.  While he fished, I sketched with pastels, ink and pencil and took a few pictures.
Couldn't believe my luck capturing a blue heron catching and eating a fish!

There is nothing as peaceful as being on the water.  It's a calm and beautiful world filled with color, birds, wildlife, fish and inspiration.

Earthly Visions: The Month of July at the Red Horse Gallery

I have been getting ready for this exhibit!  A collaboration with a wonderfully imaginative and talented wood carver,  Gary Flynn.

In the last month I've been fortunate to take a couple of road trips.  One to Door County and one to northern MN.  Painting and planning paintings throughout both trips.  I've also been fortunate to paint in Shoreview, MN in my daughter Elisabeth and son in law Riaz's new backyard.  Beautiful each place and serenaded by different wild life in each location.  Fox, birds, bullfrogs, loons, geese, ducks and more.

Artist Reception for "Dance: A Painter's Perspective" 19, April, 2013

I am humbled, amazed, honored and so very happy and grateful to all who came to celebrate my year long project with me Friday evening.  A count of over 70 from from and near, what a wonderful evening.  I couldn't have done it without the "dream team" of so many fabulous friends.  A few pictures from the evening......
