A great weekend!

More pictures from the reception.  Thank you Riaz!

I was and am so happy and appreciative of everyone who came to the reception, thank you all!
Last weekend was full of delightful times with my mother's 87th birthday on Saturday and my first artist reception on Sunday.  87 looks amazing on my mother.  If you don't believe me, look at her picture!

Also a GIANT THANK YOU to all of my wonderful long time & new friends & my incredible family who came from far and near to my exhibit reception at the Acoustic Cafe. I feel so humbled and grateful for the presence of so many people and their support.  Patrick got a couple of pictures but hopefully someone else got better ones!

Charlie and His Beauties

I realized that the only family member not in my exhibit was Charlie.  Charlie was actually the first portrait I did 3 years ago but his mom and dad have that one.  So I decided to continue the Madeline Island theme and the fun Lua,  Charlie and all of us had collecting rocks on our vacation.  Charlie hoarded his "beauties" in a hollow at the top of a large rock in our rented back yard,  looking at them everyday and even carrying them to the beach in a bucket with us when we swam.  Here is Charlie with his beauties.  Now for it to dry and get it into the exhibit by the time he comes to visit next week!

March figure drawing

I thought I would post some figure drawings from the end of March and then try to keep up weekly with April.  We have such a wonderfully diverse group of models to work from.

First Exhibit!

This afternoon I hung my first solo exhibit at the Acoustic Cafe' in Winona, MN.  Friend and fellow artist Carol Slade was a huge help hanging everything.  37 pieces! Thank you Carol, I couldn't have done it without you and your tool box.  And thank you Kathy for asking if I would be interested in exhibiting.

I'm thrilled about having a reception on Sunday, April 17th from 2-4pm and also sketching live at the Acoustic on April 29th for Fringe Friday 4:30-6:30 pm.  Catherine and Gary generously lent my painting from their collection for the event.  I am surrounded by wonderful friends and family.  I love you all!

This painting is of Lua rock hunting last summer at Madeline Island.  The red "moss" on the shoreline was amazing and Lua and Charlie were constantly hunting "beauties" on the shore and in the water.  Of course, so was I.
