Winona Art Walk & Tour 2016

This Saturday,  November 19th is a big day for Winona Artists.   The Winona Art Walk & Tour and Hand Made Neighborhood showcase our area arts and crafts.  The Art Walk is from 10am to 4 pm with many artists at different locations.

I'll be showing my work at my home gallery/studio with "Woodenjoy" artist Gary Flynn.  We're excited for opportunity to greet old friends and meet new ones!

Gary's illuminated wooden lamps are beautiful and perfect for a calming low light.

I'll have some of my latest paintings of women farmers among other works, prints and notecards.

Portrait of Athena

This is a oil painting of adorable fun & free spirit Athena.  She's an amazing 3 year old.  It's a wonderful challenge to find a setting and pose that express a child (or adult).  I do love painting portraits.
Also working on a project about women farmers and have two finished.  One oil and one pastel.  Thank you Jennifer Breitlow and Featherstone Farm!

Summer Social this Sunday

I'm happy that the WSO has used one of my paintings again this year for their poster.  Elmaro is a beautiful spot to have an exhibit.  Stop by and say hi Sunday!

March 2016

It's long past time for me to post some new work!

A commission finished this winter of adorable "Mimi".  What a darling girl she is.  I thoroughly enjoyed trying to capture her thoughtful personality in oils.

More to come soon....

Noon-3pm
119 E. 3rd St.  Winona, MN

Doing a simple wire bracelet that “anyone could do” with some wire, pliers, & a wire cutter, is Maryann Frietsche of Silver Studio Jewelry Artists.  “Making a free form wire bracelet is fun, easy, and quite unpredictable!  I am demonstrating a simple project for anyone to make in an afternoon.”

Watch Julie Johnston draw a portrait “live” in pastel and charcoal.  Ask questions or bring your own materials and draw along with her!

Picture Dreams of having a downtown gallery in Winona, that’s been our dream for several years now. Finally a dream is becoming a reality!

On April 16th we will open the Island City Gallery and begin a new phase as artists/gallery managers. We will see where this adventure takes us and invite everyone to explore the art of the Winona area.

There are two main reasons for opening the gallery One, so we can have a place to show our jewelry and Julie Johnson’s artwork, and so we can provide a place for local artists to show their artwork. It’s a combination of these two goals that gave us the idea to invite several 3D artists from Winona – the Island City – to join us in our inaugural show.

With the inaugural show we begin our journey. We are introducing a place where people can see creations from artists’ workshops in Winona and the surrounding area and meet the artists who live among them. So, mark your calendar, the show begins April 16th and the artists' reception is from 4pm - 7pm. And be sure to ask artists questions while you have a chance. It's so interesting to find out what it takes to build these creations!

A little gallery on 3rd St. is a small place, but we are putting our hearts into the planning and hope that it opens up a new chapter in the art scene in Winona.

Our regular gallery hours will be: Thursdays 11am - 5:30pm, Fridays 11am - 5:30pm, & Saturdays 10am -3pm.

Thank you and we hope to see you there!
